We have been busy today being historical researchers! We wrote our own interview questions to ask an older person about phones in the past. Please try to do this by the start of Week 6
We even used new technology to type up our questions!
Thanks

It’s excursion time…
Wednesday we will be heading to Gawler to visit the Gawler Historical Museum with the other 2/3 classes. Fingers crossed the weather will be kind to us but please stay tuned to the forecast. We are hoping to take half the students on a walk through Dead Man’s Pass while the other half participate in hands on exhibits in the museum. This of course will be weather dependent.
We will be leaving at 9am so please try to be on time for school. There is also a chance that we may be a little late back (a few minutes after the bell) depending on traffic. The office will be informed if this is looking likely. Please be prepared for this by telling siblings not to worry beforehand and to wait in regular pick up spots. I will make a blog post to let you know if we will be late. Stay tuned to your email. We are hoping this wont happen but…
We are all looking forward to the day. Check out the school newsletter later this week for an update on our history learning.
Well done to the Year 3 students for such persistence in the NAPLAN assessments last week. The Year 2 students also showed great empathy and consideration during the testing time. Very proud of all!
Thank you to Erin’s Mum and Harry’s grandma who have volunteered to come on our Gawler Museum excursion in Week 5. Please return all permission forms.

This week we are lucky enough to have a guest speaker come to speak to us. Peter Donovan is a professional historian who is going to speak to us about his work.
We have been practicing being historians and exploring the ‘Mystery History Box’ with some very interesting artefacts. We have been using our inquiry skill of being Questioners to ask some good open questions about the artefacts. We have been using the question matrix to help us ask better questions.
This week we will be continuing to ask questions to help guide our research into how has technology changed.
There are some very curious minds and great questioning happening (see pictures below)

Does your child has a spare pair of small headphones that they can bring in?
We are using the iPads more and are not liking the idea of kids sharing headphones.
Please label them with their name.
Thanks
How great is our school when your child can never be without a book!
The Wheelers Digital Library is accessible at home to ALL students and there is no such thing as an overdue. It’s a great way to get the newest release books without any cost.
Simply follow the instructions in the infographic below to access it.
Hope you all had a lovely Mother’s Day and the kids were well behaved!
This week is NAPLAN testing for the Year 3 students. We don’t make a big deal about this and encourage children to just do their best! We have been looking at some tests from previous years and have discussed strategies to try so they feel confident about the testing procedure. Below are the days and times for your information.
The Year 2 students will be combined with the year 2 students from Room 13 and be completing other learning tasks during these testing times.

Today the students glued in their log in details for the online digital library to enable them to read levelled books online. It is called Oxford Owl. It can be accessed on a computer or iPad.

Please note: If your child is on the Literacy Pro program then they are not required to use Oxford owl
Hi everyone
We are heading on another excursion to link with our history topic. The date is Wednesday 30th May and it will be a whole day excursion (including a long bus drive) to Gawler Museum.
The museum is a hands on experience in smaller groups. We will also be walking around the area while one group is inside including some bushwalking through a gully.
Let me know if you’re interested in helping out and you have a current DCSI clearance.
